A man was killed Saturday after an MBTA Commuter Rail train struck his van while it crossed tracks at the Beachwood Street overcoming in Cohasset according to local executives Cohasset Police Chief William Quigley announced a call came in around a m for a train striking a automobile Just before the call came in the MBTA noted the Greenbush Line Train would end amenity at North Scituate because of police activity Quigley announced the navigating lane equipment appeared to be functioning properly but that the intersection was in a no whistle zone an area where trains do not sound horns and whistles at certain crossings The trains on the Greenbush Line do not use the horn unless they see something on the right-of-way so that ll be part of the probe as well But as you can perhaps hear in the background the bells and lights are working the gates are functioning properly Quigley stated Quigley noted there were about people on the train The train is unfailingly going to win and even if the gates are up I still look I slow down and look There s a pretty clear line of view here But unfortunately that didn t happen the present day Quigley advised reporters Local functionaries did not identify the man who died Quigley announced there have been four deaths in Cohasset in the past four years as a conclusion of vehicles and trains colliding two of which happened within the past month Staff Photo By Stuart Cahill Boston HeraldCohasset Police Chief William Quigley speaks to the media as police investigate the scene of a fatal commuter rail vs car accident on Beachwood street on Saturday Staff Photo By Stuart Cahill Boston Herald Staff Photo By Stuart Cahill Boston HeraldPolice investigate the scene of a fatal commuter rail vs car accident on Beachwood street on Saturday Staff Photo By Stuart Cahill Boston Herald
